The term "based" was often spouted from Layo's videos back in early 2024, he first used it ironically to poke fun at "Sigma Grindset Patrick Bateman edits" that would fester on large social media platforms. He frequently used it to the point where it lost all meaning to him. He then later added "Valid" as a way to make a complete catchphrase when praising something.
